Joey O Bocce Classic – 4/27

Save the date: 4/11! CrossFit Games Open Wrap up party!

Congratulations RTPer’s on finishing the 2014 CrossFit Games Open!  Thanks to everyone who decided to put their name in the ring and go for it these last 5 weeks!  Don’t forget that we have a CF Games Open Wrap up party on 4/11!

For most of us, the competition just ended, but for those who performed well enough to stay atop the leaderboard, the competition continues to Regionals.  This year, the Mid-Atlantic Regionals will be held in Fairfax, VA on 5/23-5/25.  In the upcoming week or so, CrossFit HQ will be reviewing video submissions of top athletes.  After review, a round of invitations will be sent out.  Depending on the athlete’s plans, he/she may decide to accept or decline the invitation to compete individually and HQ will then send other invitations to individuals to round out the top 48.  Scores of those individuals who decide to compete individually will be removed from the ‘team’ scores and then invitations to the team competition will also be sent out.  You can read more about the process here.  Stay tuned – we will let you know the final results as soon as we know them!

Here are a few of the results from our gym:

Team rank: 74 out of 330 affiliates in the Mid-Atlantic that participated in the Open.

Individual Female: Sarah Dunsmore (33rd overall in the Mid-Atlantic)

Individual Female: Kim Cocce (57th overall in the Mid-Atlantic)

In the meantime, mark your calendars for 5/22-5/25 because you bet we are going to send a cheering squad to Fairfax if these ladies receive and accept their invitations!

Congrats to Kim & Sarah!! You ladies are awesome!!

The best unintentional April Fool’s prank I played was wearing my “What day is it?” t-shirt last night—I had a couple people wondering if yesterday was hump day. 🙂

A certain soft kitty tried to tell me he was leaving the gym. Too bad he also, inadvertently, reminded me it was the first of the month, April 1st to be exact (without this he really would have had me). He said it with a straight face and a compelling financial argument. Nice try, soft kitty, nice try!!!
