Strict Pushups – let’s establish guidelines for the “1 set max rep pushup”. These guidelines apply to pushups done at any height.
1. Both hands must be contact with the ground. Momentary repositioning of the hands is allowed. However, leaving one hand off the ground and turning to the side to rest each arm is not allowed.
2. You are allowed to sag the hips or get into a downward dog position BETWEEN reps as a form of “rest” but must be in a blank position when performing the actual rep (starting from the descend) Again, both hands must stay on the ground.
3. Pushups are TTT (top-to-top). You are not allowed to rest on the ground and you are not allowed to lift your hand(s) at the bottom of the pushup.
4. Pushups are Chest to Deck (Not stomach to deck). If your belly touches before your chest, it would be encouraged to put your hands on a deficit and allow your chest to go below the height of your hands (ie box, plates).
4. The set ends when EITHER your thighs OR knees touch the ground.
