Brian H.When I was a teenager in the mieswdt and didn’t know any other gay people, I was BEGGING my straight friends to introduce me to other gay people they know. They would casually mention another gay person and I’d yell, WHAT? You know another gay person?! Why haven’t you told me all about him?!?! Thankfully, now that I’m in NYC, that doesn’t happen anymore.

I met Jim Harbough in a bar in downtown Chicago when he was the quarterback for the Bears. The friend I was with said “Hey Jim, want to get your picture taken with 2 famous people?” (she had a disposable camera with her….yes, youngsters, there was a time when cell phones did not take pictures!!) Jim looked at us as though he didn’t know us (as if!) and said “Sure”.

I was on the same airplane a couple of years ago as Ron Jeremy. I shook his hand and said “I enjoy your work”……ok maybe I didn’t say that and I certainly didn’t want to touch his hand! BTW…I just want to confirm that I have NEVER seen any of his movies (however, I am currently reading his book—seriously)!!!

I sat 2 rows behind Jesse Jackson at a Cubs game in Wrigley.

I was on the observational deck of the John Hancock building when Blue Man Group came in to take some promotional photos…..one guess how I knew who they were!

I ran into Eric Staal of the Hurricanes at a Five Guys in Raleigh.

Moral of the story…..hang with me and we will eventually see someone famous! ๐Ÿ™‚

We were just talking after yesterday’s workout about how “we haven’t done rope climbs in a *long* time”. This is far from the first time something like that has happened.

I’m convinced Lei has hidden microphones installed all over the gym.

    omg Cathy, Ron Jeremy hahaha!

I almost met Donovan McNabb and some Philly footballers when my friend and I were invited to some VIP area at a bar downtown Philly. A member of the entourage (some third string kicker prolly) came over and said “Donovan would like you and your friend to join his table.” I heard “Donovan would like you to come back to the scary part of the bar and end up in a dumpster later.” Therefore, I declined and instead of having a reoccurring role on Football Wives, Philly Edition I live in central Durham with two cats (read: van down by the river).

The most random place for me are still at video game conventions. Seriously, there are some major stars out there that drop by video game conventions (usually because they do voice work) and try to blend into the crowds. To name a few, The Rock, Nathan Fillion, Ice T, etc.

I once flew on a plane from Chicago to Salt Lake City when the Bulls were playing the Jazz in the NBA finals and the series was changing locations. There were a host of big celebs including Bob Costas, Isaiah Thomas, and Jerry Springer (both Isaiah and Jerry sat coach in the row in front of me). I was petrified and mustered up the courage to ask for an autograph mid flight.

Also congratulated Rich Froning at the Southeast Regionals in 2009 before he won anything in CF. And saw Ben Smith (and his dad) at a restaurant last years Regionals.

Nothing too crazy, I was working at a Ritz Camera in high school when Renee Zellweger came in to develop her personal photos from Me, Myself, and Irene (shot in VT). Otherwise, saw plenty of “stars” in Vegas and at a fancy restaurant outside of DC. Oh yeah, we saw David Grisman (musician) in a sushi restaurant in Arcata, CA once. We were just leaving and he was waiting for a seat so we got to pass by him in close proximity. Jer was so star-struck he tensed up and eked out a pathetic “you’re awesome” as we walked by. It was the cutest!
